Despite being down to ten men, Jamshedpur bounced back late into the game as Sergio Castel got the better of Francisco Dorronsoro with a beautiful dink.

Jamshedpur FC began its ISL 2019-20 campaign on a winning note as it took three points from its encounter against Odisha FC.

Despite being reduced to ten men after Bikash Jairu picked up a red card, Jamshedpur bounced back late into the game as new arrival Sergio Castel got the better of Francisco Dorronsoro with a beautiful dink.

The game, though, had its share of drama. Here are some of the major talking points from the Jamshedpur FC vs Odisha FC game:

1) Sergio Castel announces Jamshedpur arrival with goal on debut

Sergio Castel made a mark on his debut for Jamshedpur as the Spaniard sealed the all-important winner in the 85th minute. Having earlier played in Spain's second division, Castel also combined well with fellow striker Farukh Choudhary.

Even before the goal, the 24-year-old had several chances to open his account but the former SS Reyes player finished off in style, as he chipped Francisco Dorronsoro between the sticks.

2) Rana Gharami scores first own goal of ISL 2019-20

It took only three matchdays for ISL 2019-20 to witness its first own goal. Rana Gharami was the culprit for Odisha FC as he found his own net in the 16th minute while clearing the cross from Farukh Choudhary.

Interestingly, Rana Gharami was the first goal scorer for Delhi Dynamos (which is now rebranded as Odisha) last season. Gharami scored first for Odisha in this edition too, unfortunately in the wrong net.

3) Bikash Jairu receives first red card of the season

Winger Bikash Jairu was given marching orders by the referee minutes after the half-hour mark, as he brought down Jerry Mawhmingthanga with a two-footed tackle. He thus became the first player to receive a red card this season.

Jairu, who was playing in the five-man midfield, was sent off for his foul on Jerry as Jamshedpur was cut down to ten men. Luckily for the host, the absence of one player didn't hurt as much as it eventually registered a win in its first game at home.

4) Jerry Mawhmingthanga makes an impact despite Odisha's loss

Though Odisha failed to get a winning start to its campaign, young midfielder Jerry Mawhmingthanga excelled for the Josep Gombau-coached side. With his runs on the right flank, Jerry provided vital crosses which helped the visitor to threaten Jamshedpur in the box.

He was also pivotal in Aridane Santana's equaliser, as he provided the assist with a fine cross. Jerry, who played for Jamshedpur last season, saw his efforts go in vain as he finished the game on the losing side.
