Welcome to Sportstar's ISL 2020-21 blog of the ATK Mohun Bagan vs Chennaiyin FC clash being played at the Fatorda Stadium.

That's all we have for tonight. We will be back tomorrow with SC East Bengal vs Mumbai City FC. [ MATCH PREVIEW ] Until then, it's good night.

MATCH REPORT|

ATK Mohun Bagan coach Antonio Habas: "You can play well but important thing is the win. My team was disciplined. Maybe in first half we played well but then we made too many mistakes with passes. What was important was that we believed in victory until the end. We didn't play a fantastic match. [Was this your best XI?] No, this season we have many players but also injuries. After that, we can control the first XI with fit players. No time for recovery and there is humidity to contend with. But this is the nature of this season with Covid-19. [Attacking approach?] Yes, we are trying to give more possibility to attack and not just one. You have train everyday. In the first 45 minutes we played well but too many mistakes in the second probably because of pressure to score."

Chennaiyin FC coach Csaba Laszlo: "This is the same feeling for me too (as Sipovic). We managed the game well. It was not an easy game. The team deserved minimum one point. I don't think it was necessary to play the ball into the corner (at the end). We just slipped in the one corner when we defended well from other set pieces. I am so sorry for the team because they worked very hard. We did not have many chances. ATKMB had one chance. Unfortunately, we lost. Look, we tried to go back and change everything, in our last games we did not get (concede) any goals from set pieces. Unfortunately, we can't defend well at all times. We must be careful and we trained for this. I hope this is now finished with us conceding from set pieces.

[Will you start Isma and Sylvestr?] Isma is fit for 60 minutes because he had an injury. We lost Rafa and Thapa. I need to complement the team because they tried hard. Isma and Sylvestr, we might play them together again. We don't have many fit players in that position. If you want to win games, I am waiting for my strikers to score goals. This game both team managed it well but we lost at the end of the day."

Chennaiyin FC defender Enes Sipovic: "Again (we conceded from) a set piece. Even if they play bad they win, that's winning mentality. I believe we didn't deserve to lose. They had one chance with the freekick. We didn't have many chances. My chance in the 90th minute was big, that's it. We don't have time to think about this game. We have to think about Mumbai City and find motivation from within. We need to put more heart into it."

Here is the full ISL 2020: Points Table

FULL-TIME! It had to be a 1-0 win for ATK Mohun Bagan and it had to be a second half goal to do the job. The Mariners are now two points off Mumbai City FC, which plays SC East Bengal tomorrow. Chennaiyin didnt offer much threat going forward as it struggles without Rafael Crivellaro and Anirudh Thapa in the XI. It could have stolen a point in the end but for Tiri's heroic clearance on the line.

90'+5' Phew! Sipovic gets on the end of a long ball and beats Arindam to the ball. The ball was heading into the net but Tiri makes a superb clearance on the slide while facing the goal just inches before going over the line.

90'+3' CFC SUB: Thoi OFF, Ganesh ON

90'+1' GOAL! ATKMB 1-0 CFC! Williams puts his side ahead! Javier swings in a corner and Williams gets the beating of Tangri with his jump and heads it into the bottom corner!

Six minutes of added time.

85' Corner for Chennaiyin and it was nearly bundled into the net but Arindam makes a crucial grab.

83' Poor ball from Thoi as he looks to find Chhangte on the counter. He should have played a better pass with Chhangte bearing through the centre.

82' Yellow card for Reagan.

80' CFC SUBS: Jerry, Isma - OFF, Germanpreet, Fanai - ON

79' Chhangte's shot from outside the box is deflected and Arindam scrambles to collect the effort.

75' WATER BREAK IS TAKEN.

75' SAVE! Stunning one-handed save by Kaith to stop Javier's freekick from going into the top corner.

73' That seemed like the chance for ATKMB. Ball played in from the right by Williams into Javier, whose first touch set him for a shot but Memo recovered to shielf the ball away from the attacker.

69' CFC SUB: Rahim OFF, Sylvestr ON

67' ATKMB SUB: McHugh, Manvir - OFF, Regin, Williams - ON

65' A sliding tackle by Tangri takes out Edu Garcia. No yellow card, however.

64' Foul by Rathi on Thoi as he looks to break forward. He gets booked for that challenge.

63' Krishna gets to a long ball ahead of Sipovic but the Chennaiyin centre-back does well to cut out the pass by the ATKMB stirker.

62' From the corner, the ball ends up striking Sabia on the thigh while jumping and bounces behind for a goal kick.

61' Freekick for Chennaiyin. Reagan plays it in and Tiri heads it behind for a corner.

56' Poor goalkick by Kaith as the ball flies out for a ATKMB throw in inside his own half.

55' ATKMB SUB: Bose OFF, Rathi ON

54' Bose looks to have pulled his hamstring.

53' Quick freekick taken and played into Javier, who takes it to the left and takes a shot off balance. The ball balloons into the hands of Kaith.

51' Freekick for Chennaiyin after Thoi goes down under the challenge of Bose.

48' Javier makes his way into the ATKMB box from the left but has his path cut short by  CFC defender.

HALF-TIME. ATK Mohun Bagan has dominated the half with Chennaiyin looking to soak in the pressure. Chennaiyin has been looking to play on the counter and take shots from distance, which it is doing unsuccessfully.

45'+3' Poor corner from Chhangte and no Chennaiyin player is able to attack the ball.

45'+2' Memo with a shot from distance which is deflected behind for a corner.

38' ATKMB works the ball through the right by Manvir and hooks a ball into the box but there is no teammate to get on the end of it. Sabia clears it out of his box.

34' Chhangte beats Jhingan on the left and puts in a cross from the byline but the linesman adjudjes that the ball had crossed the line before that.

32' Shot in anger? Ball falls kindly to Krishna outside the CFC box and he lets fly... but goes wide of goal.

30' Waterbreak is taken.

29' Manvir plays a cross into the CFC box but Sabia clears it away.

27' A reverse long ball played into the Mohun Bagan box and Thoi nearly got on the end of it.

24' Sabia seems to have injured his ankle after Bose inadvertently stood on it. He is okay to continue for the moment.

23' Chhangte wins a corner on he left. In the lead-up Isma had a claim for a freekick outside ATKMB box after Javi body-checked him but referee doesnt see it that way.

21' SAVE! A long ball into CFC box is played into the path of Javi on the edge of the box. The Spaniard sets himself up and volleys it hard at goal but Kaith pushes it wide with a strong arm.

Mohun Bagan is shading the possession at the moment. 55-45. Chennaiyin look a very different team sans Crivellaro and Thapa.

17' Break for ATKMB with Manvir breaking forward through the right side to the middle but he ends up overhitting his pass to Krishna, who was setting himself up for a tap in.

16' Superb battle on the left between Jerry and Krishna. Jerry shoves Krishna off the ball and the Fiji striker returns the favour but fails to dispossess the Chennaiyin fullback.

STAT: ATKMB has scored 11 times this season having created just 81 chances – the least in Hero ISL 2020-21 by any team.

12' Some sustained spell of possession for ATKMB but they can't penetrate through Chennaiyin's lines. They end up running into a Chennaiyin body and play it back to their defenders.

9' Isma does well to win the ball off McHugh in his own half and the ball breaks to Rahim. The youngster takes a shot from distance, which goes narrowly wide of the far post.

7' Tiri drives forward with ball and unleashes a shot from distance, which Kaith has to dive low to his right to hold on to.

3' Memo ends up smashing the ball against Krishna, who is in the wall.

5:30pm: Match preview -

When ATK Mohun Bagan takes on Chennaiyin FC at Fatorda on Thursday, it will look to get its campaign back on track after a defeat and draw in its last two games saw it fall five points behind Mumbai City at the top of the table.

Despite the slight dip in form, coach Antonio Habas feels it is not time to panic and worry. “There is no added pressure. In championships, you have good moments and sometimes bad.  We have played the last two games against the top two teams – FC Goa and Mumbai City FC who are capable of winning the league. We are in the top half of the table. Maybe we need to improve,” said Habas.

Its opponent Chennaiyin FC, though,  has bigger worries as it failed to score against a 10-man SC East Bengal in its last outing on Monday.

After a win against Odisha FC, CFC was hoping to build on it but the two points dropped in a goalless draw meant last year’s runner-up is still struggling to build momentum.

The team has struggled to be creative in the midfield after the departure of skipper Rafael Crivellaro with injuries to key players not helping things for coach Csaba Laszlo.

“If I analyse the game against East Bengal, we were not so powerful in the midfield. We did not create much and the ball possession must be better. We know that Rafa (Rafael Crivellaro) was a very important piece of the puzzle in our system. We are working and we know where we have to do a little bit more,” said Laszlo.

“We are fighting with injuries. We are fighting with some kind of (bad) luck. But we are not complaining,” he added.
