It was all about Federico Gallego's assists today. He did well to set up NEUFC full-back Ashutosh Mehta for the match's first goal during a corner. Deshorn Brown's debut goal also happened after a Gallego pass.

Owen Coyle-managed Jamshedpur FC started the game well. But Khalid Jamil's NorthEast United FC shifted gears and never gave its opposition a chance after the 20th minute.

AND IT'S FULL-TIME!!!

90+2' Six minutes of stoppage time to be added on at the end of the second half! TP Rehenesh makes a good save. Machado, who has been unlucky to not score today, tried to go for a shot from a narrow angle. But Rehenesh pushed the ball away at the right time.

89' GOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! HARTLEY SCORES!!! JAMSHEDPUR 1 - 2 NORTHEAST UNITED!!!! This was another Aitor Monroy corner. He sent a cross towards the far post. Peter Hartley rose the highest inside the box, losing his marker in the process. HANDBALL??!!! But as he headed the ball, it hit his hand and then found the back of the net. The referee, however, doesn't spot it.

87' SUBSTITUTION! NEUFC manager Jamil brings in Ninthoinganba Meetei to replace the tired Suhair VP in the middle. Can JFC pull a goal back or will NEUFC score a third on the counter?

85' THROW-IN FOR JFC! Ricky Lallawmawma goes for a long throw. He finds his team's centre-back Stephen Eze with his attempt. However, Eze's header at the near post misses the target. Goal-kick for NEUFC.

82' NorthEast United is suddenly playing like a title-winning side. Despite Jamshedpur FC making several mistakes on the field, NEUFC, under Khalid Jamil, has been phenomenal today.

79' CHANCE! John Fitzgerald receives the ball from his Jamshedpur teammate Aitor Monroy. He tries to take a shot but the ball is blocked by a NorthEast United defender.

76' IT'S TIME FOR THE FINAL DRINKS BREAK OF THE MATCH!

64' ATTACKING CHANGE FOR JFC! Coach Owen Coyle decides to bring in John Fitzgerald to replace David Grande in the middle.

61' GOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!! BROWN SCORES ON NEUFC DEBUT!!!! NORTHEAST UNITED 2 - 0 JAMSHEDPUR FC!!! JFC's Isaac Vanmalsawma loses the ball in midfield. Gallego recovers it and tees up Brown one-on-one with goalkeeper Rehenesh. The new NorthEast signing kept his calm to double his team's lead.

58' CROSS! Federico Gallego receives the ball on the right wing. He tries to cross the ball into the box but Jamshedpur defender Narender Gahlot clears it away with a header.

56' CORNER FOR JFC! Aitor Monroy will take the set-piece. He goes for the short corner. But Jamshedpur's corner strategy backfires as the side plays too many passes. NorthEast regains possession.

53' CROSS! Jamshedpur FC striker Nerijus Valskis moves the ball forward on the right flank. However, his attempted cross into the box is a poor one as the ball flies over the crossbar.

50' CHANCE FOR NEUFC! Lalengmawia tries to play a long ball towards his teammate Brown but JFC keeper TP Rehenesh comes off his line to collect the ball.

48' NEUFC CHANGE! New NorthEast United signing Deshorn Brown comes in for Idrissa Sylla. His head coach Khalid Jamil looks a relatively relieved man in the dugout.

47' TRIPLE SUBSTITUTION FOR JFC! Isaac Vanmalsawma, William Lalnunfela and Mohammad Mobashir replace Aniket Jadhav, Jackichand Singh and Amarjit Singh in the middle as Coyle looks animated on the sidelines.

THE SECOND HALF BEGINS!

Forty-five minutes to go. Stay tuned!

AND IT'S HALF-TIME!!!

45' Three minutes of stoppage time to be added on at the end of the first half! Jamshedpur loses possession in midfield yet again. Nerijus Valskis has been a shadow himself in the last two games. Manager Owen Coyle will be hoping for an improved performance from his star striker in the final 45 minutes.

42' ANOTHER NEUFC FREE-KICK! Peter Hartley fouls Idrissa Sylla. The JFC centre-back is not booked. Gallego takes the set-piece. He finds Ashutosh once again with a cross but the latter's header misses the target this time.

39' The game was evenly poised until the 20th minute. But since then, NorthEast United has dominated the passing and attacking stats. The Highlanders have deservedly taken the lead in this game.

36' GOOAAAAALLLLL!!!!!! ASHUTOSH MEHTA SCORES!!!!! NORTHEAST UNITED 1 - 0 JAMSHEDPUR FC!!!!  It was a Federico Gallego corner from the left. Ashutosh raced past a few Jamshedpur defenders to head the ball home at the near post.  Poor defending from JFC here.

33' ANOTHER SAVE FROM REHENESH! Suhair VP supplies a cross for Machado from the right wing. The NEUFC attacker goes for an overhead kick inside the box. But JFC keeper Rehenesh dives to his left to keep the score at 0-0.

30' AND IT'S TIME FOR THE COOLING BREAK NOW!

27' FOUL! JFC defender Narender Gahlot brings down NEUFC's Luis Machado. The referee doesn't show a card. The Jamshedpur defenders are targeting Machado here.

21' GOOD SAVE! NorthEast has taken over the possession stats now. This was another attack from the Highlanders. Federico Gallego put in a cross into the box from the right and Idrissa Sylla was at the receiving end. His header on target was saved by TP Rehenesh, who pushed away the second shot from Dylan Fox as well.

19' YELLOW CARD! Jamshedpur FC's Amarjit Singh is booked by the referee for a harsh challenge on NorthEast United FC's Lalengmawia in midfield.

16' THROW-IN FOR NEUFC! JFC full-back Narender Gahlot does well to get the ball off an onrushing Luis Machado, who was in a dangerous position. Jamshedpur regains possession a few moments after the throw.

14' FREE-KICK FOR NEUFC! Stephen Eze concedes this one as well. Federico Gallego is on set-piece duty now. His shot misses the target by a whisker. The ball lands on the roof of the goalpost.

11' NEUFC CHANCE! Idrissa Sylla sets up his teammate Luis Machado on the left flank. Machado evades an opposition player and gets close to the box. But his cross attempt goes out of play as Jamshedpur regains possession.

8' WHAT A SAVE! NEUFC goalkeeper Subhasish Roy denies JFC striker Nerijus Valskis with his foot. The rebound falls to Jackichand Singh inside the box, and he fires the ball over the crossbar.

6' Jamshedpur FC has dominated possession early on, despite making quite a few silly fouls. The team, however, should be careful during NorthEast United FC counter-attacks.

3' FREE-KICK FOR NEUFC! JFC defender Stephen Eze brings down NorthEast forward Idrissa Sylla in midfield. Luis Machado will take the set-piece. His delivery into the box is easily cleared away by the Jamshedpur defence.

ISL 2020: Points Table

MATCH PREVIEW:

Jamshedpur FC and NorthEast United have been sailing through rough waters in the ongoing edition of the Indian Super League. On Sunday in Vasco, both the clubs will be looking to start afresh.

After the Highlanders drew 1-1 with Bengaluru FC — its seventh game without a win — the club announced the departure of head coach Gerard Nus and the appointment of Khalid Jamil as interim head coach.

On the other hand, FC Goa handed Jamshedpur its third loss (3-0) in four games last week. But the only silver lining is their statistical record against NorthEast — unbeaten in seven matches so far. Earlier this season, Jamshedpur had beaten the Highlanders 1-0.

READ |

Jamshedpur is dependent on Nerijus Valskis, who scored eight of the club’s 12 goals in this season. The remaining four are shared by Stephen Eze (3) and Aniket Jadhav (1).

Jamshedpur has conceded 10 out of 15 goals in the second half and it will be keen on improving in that period.

Alexandre Lima will not be available for the match after the red card against the Gaurs.

The Highlanders are a quality side but they have remained largely inconsistent. They had enjoyed a six-game unbeaten run at the start of the season before the downward spiral.

Idrissa Sylla, who missed the last match, is likely to return. Ghanaian striker Kwesi Appiah has been ruled out of the season. Deshorn Brown, who played the first half of ISL 2020-21 with Bengaluru FC, is his replacement.
