Special guests at Chennaiyin's penultimate home match

The Tamil Nadu Women's Football team which won it's maiden national title earlier this week and Indian Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, who recently won the World Rapid Chess Championship, were in attendance to support the home team.

The Indian Super League match between Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, had special guests gracing the occasion. The Tamil Nadu Women's Football team which won it's maiden national title earlier this week and Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, who recently won the World Rapid Chess Championship, were in attendance to support the home team.

The Tamil Nadu Women's Football Team beat defending champion Manipur 2-1 in the final. Scoring 25 goals in the competition, Tamil Nadu got the better of teams such as Odisha and West Bengal enroute the final.

The captain of the team Nandini and tournament's top-scorer Indumathi, who scored ten goals, did a lap of honour with the trophy in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

The current World Rapid Chess champion Anand was also enjoying the proceedings from the stands. Anand, who is a local fan favorite given he hails from Chennai, has also been awarded the Padma Vibhushan and Khel Ratna in recent years.

Children from Dazzling Stone orphanage, who  were also present, had an evening to remember as they cheered and supported their idols at Chennaiyin FC with absolute gusto.
