Jamshedpur FC makes Tiri its first foreign signing

Indian Super League (ISL) new entrant Jamshedpur FC has signed Spanish defender Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo, also known as Tiri, as its first foreign recruit on Friday.

Tiri, 26, was integral to Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) in its 2016 title triumph after defeating Kerala Blasters in a penalty shoot-out in the final. A left footed centre-back by trade he can also slot in at the left-back position when required.

The former Atletico Madrid B player took to his social media account to announce his signing saying, “Happy to join to Jamshedpur FC, my new home. I will do everything to achieve to achieve the main objective, to win the Indian Super League.”

Jamshedpur FC coach Steve Coppell is building a side which can challenege for the ISL championship in its first season of existence. Tiri will be slotting in alongside high-profile draft pick Anas Edathodika in defence. The duo will be backed up by veteran Indian goalkeeper Subrata Pal guarding the posts.
