Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory said it is an honour and pleasure to be talking about playing the final of the Indian Super League after his team decimated a listless FC Goa in the semifinal at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday.

The coach praised Jeje Lalpekhlua and said he predicted the forward would score two goals. “He has always played well for me. I see a lot of things in him that goes his way. He works hard. His enthusiasm is top notch. I told him I want him in my team and he said he will score two goals,” he added.

The coach credited the fitness of his side saying, "Our fitness is good which has enabled us to score in the death too. Goa moved around a lot, sometimes it is hard to play against them, we hung in there and put in a huge responsibility on our backline. Our team was built around this (defence) to withstand pressure and still score upfront."

FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera said his team played the best in the first 25 minutes of the match. “I think we had an exceptional first 25 minutes. We had opportunities to put ourselves ahead. I think we were the superior team till then. The difficult part is when we commit mistakes in 2-3 minutes, we see the game slip away.

“From that point (when two goals were scored) everything changed. We were doing excessive running to get the ball. We lost it from those minutes (when the goals were scored),” he said.
