Kerala Blasters to initiate legal proceedings against Michael Chopra

Former Kerala Blasters player Michael Chopra levelled corruption allegations against his former teammate and current Blasters assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed.

Kerala Blasters has announced that it will be initiating legal proceedings against former player Michael Chopra over his comments against current assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed.

"The club appreciate Ishfaq Ahmed's contribution as a player and as part of the coaching staff. He will continue to be with the club for the long term," the statement added.

Chopra had posted on his Twitter page on Sunday, "@ishuberk [Ishfaq Ahmed] whats the story about you taking back handers from agents if the players sign for @KeralaBlasters. @kbfc_manjappada take note what's happening to your amazing club #corruption"

 

The former Newcastle United and Sunderland player Chopra donned Blasters colours in the 2014 and 2016 season, while scoring just once. Ishfaq, a former player himself, was Chopra's teammate during this time.

Responding to the allegations, Ishfaq told Sportstar , "He is not just trying to bring put me down but the entire club as well. Because I am not the only one involved in signing players for the club. It's a big group: involving many people in the club and the agency as well. I hope the agencies also sue him."
