Materazzi: We have to treat every game as a final

After slumping to its fifth defeat of the season, Chennaiyin FC coach Marco Materazzi rued the missed chances on Wednesday against NorthEast United FC as his side slumped to a 2-1 defeat. The Italian added, “we have to treat every game as a final if we are to make the playoffs but in this competition two wins can easily change the momentum.”

However, the Italian refused to pin blame on his side’s defense and said he will need to sit down with his players before commenting on it.

When asked about if the heavy rain that interrupted play for close to an hour, affected his team’s play due to the damage to the pitch, Materazzi said it did not make any difference and added the conditions was the same for both teams.

For NorthEast United FC, the goalkeeper Rehenesh was the star of the day and came in for praise from both NorthEast and Chennaiyin coaches, Cesar Farias and Materazzi.
