Helder Postiga said his team should not carried away with the win and shift its focus to the second leg against Mumbai City FC.

Helder Postiga has experienced the joy of winning multiple titles for the top Portuguese club FC Porto where he played for long years before turning out for Atletico de Kolkata in ISL and the striker says the prospect of winning the ISL trophy is giving him a new high.

Playing true to the role merited by his No. 9 jersey, Postiga inspired a great turnaround for the ATK, which beat the most proficient side of the league stage, Mumbai City FC, 3-2 in the first leg of the first semifinal on Saturday to gain the initial advantage. “It is very important to control happiness now. We played a very good match and won but the most important thing is to focus on the next match (the second leg of play-off in Mumbai),” Postiga said on Sunday. “We played with passion against a big team like Mumbai but we have to forget the result and go the next match with the proper focus,” he added as ATK warmed up for the second leg.

“They (Mumbai) came into the match with eight clean sheets and conceding just three goals, I think we did a great job,” Spanish coach Jose Molina’s words reverberated the sense of triumph in the team after the big win. “It definitely seems like the best attacking performance. We did a great job in attack against Mumbai, but we have a long road ahead and need to play with the same intensity in Mumbai,” the coach was happy about the attack and Postiga definitely occupied a big part of his admiration.

Postiga, who avowedly prefers to play a more creative role as a withdrawn forward, hailed the positive attacking form of his Canadian colleague Iain Hume, whose two goals in the end helped ATK win. “He (Hume) showed yesterday he can make the difference. The team needs players of big quality and Hume showed that yesterday,” Postga sounded like a true team-man. “I prefer to play back as that helps more. I try to pass my experience to the team and feel taking more responsibility would take the pressure off the team,” Postiga put his role in perspective. With Mumbai City FC, which possesses one of the best attacking combinations on current form, expected to come hard on ATK in second leg, Postiga’s performance will hold the key in deciding the finalist.
