Pune City gets Argentine flavour in Gustavo Oberman

Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Pune City has signed Argentine midfielder Gustavo Oberman for the 2016 season. The South American, who plied his trade in Argentina and Spain till now, will be eyeing to make an impact in his debut in India.

FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel sounded upbeat with Gustavo’s addition to his side.

“Gustavo is a midfielder with a penchant for attacking. He is adept to lead the second line of attack for the team and his game awareness is something that we were very impressed with. I wish him all the best for his new stint,” said Modwel.

Gustavo was a part of the Argentina U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2005. Nicknamed as Cachete, Gustavo’s professional football career began at Argentino Juniors in 2003. He then went on to play for River Plate, CD Castellon, CFR Cluj, Cordoba CF among other clubs.

Head coach Antonio Habas said, “Gustavo is a player who we feel is right suited the style of football which we at FC Pune City would like to play this season, i.e. attacking brand. He has a knack of making chances from unexpected positions and am sure that’s going to be an asset to the team.”
