FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel sounded upbeat with Gustavo’s addition to his side.
“Gustavo is a midfielder with a penchant for attacking. He is adept to lead the second line of attack for the team and his game awareness is something that we were very impressed with. I wish him all the best for his new stint,” said Modwel.
Gustavo was a part of the Argentina U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2005. Nicknamed as Cachete, Gustavo’s professional football career began at Argentino Juniors in 2003. He then went on to play for River Plate, CD Castellon, CFR Cluj, Cordoba CF among other clubs.
Head coach Antonio Habas said, “Gustavo is a player who we feel is right suited the style of football which we at FC Pune City would like to play this season, i.e. attacking brand. He has a knack of making chances from unexpected positions and am sure that’s going to be an asset to the team.”
On his first ever stint in India, Gustavo said, “I have heard great things about the country and the football fans here. I hope to see all of that during my stint with FC Pune City and make an indelible impression on the fans, especially the Orange Army.”
