Indian Super League (ISL) franchise NorthEast United FC on Wednesday announced the signing of India international goalkeeper Subrata Paul along with Nirmal Chettri, Rowllin Borges, Shouvik Ghosh and Sumit Passi for the third edition of the tournament.

The franchise has named Brazilian Sergio Farias its head coach. With the addition of these five players, the franchise has moved closer to completing its domestic roster, it said on Wednesday.

“I cannot wait to start playing for NorthEast United. It is my home and I am sure we will have a memorable season ... one to remember,” Nirmal said in a statement.

Rowllin also stated his delight. “I am very happy that I signed for NorthEast United FC. I am looking forward to playing for the club this season and its passionate fans and helping it win the League,” he said.

Ardeshir Jeejeebhoy, director of football for NEUFC, said, “We have huge expectations from Nirmal who has quality I-League, ISL and international experience to strengthen our defence and give us an added edge because he is raring to go.”

“Subrata Paul, on the other hand, displays remarkably quick instincts on field. He is a seasoned footballer and definitely would have a lot of wisdom to share with the boys,” he added.
