Zico wants final fixtures to be played concurrently

With the scramble for semifinal spots intensifying in the Indian Super League, Zico has expressed a wish to see the last round of fixtures in the league phase all played concurrently.

Zico: 'The only advice for the ISL is, like other leagues [around the world], if all the last games would be played at the same time on the same day, it would be much better.'   -  V. Sreenivasa Murthy

With the scramble for semifinal spots intensifying in the Indian Super League, Zico has expressed a wish to see the last round of fixtures in the league phase all played concurrently. Under the current schedule, FC Goa will play its final league game on December 1, against Chennaiyin FC, while the regular season continues for three more days.

"The only advice for the ISL is, like other leagues [around the world], if all the last games would be played at the same time on the same day, it would be much better," the FC Goa coach said. "Because we play on December 1, and then teams have games on 2, 3, and 4. We are already done but [the other teams know what they have to do to progress]."

Zico remained hopeful, though, that this would not come to matter. "I have to motivate my players because we can still depend on our own results," he said. "If we win all our games, we will be in the semifinals. We don't want to depend on others' results."
