Jurgen Klopp has agreed to become Liverpool’s new manager on Thursday according to reports in the British media. The 48-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside to sign the deal and is expected to be unveiled on Friday.
The English Premier League side have been looking for a new boss since Brendan Rodgers was sacked on Sunday. The former Borussia Dortmund coach had been the hot favourite from the start.
Sky television said Klopp, 48, had agreed to become the manager. The Daily Mail newspaper said Klopp would sign a three-year deal under which he would earn more than GBP4 million pounds a year.
Several of Rodgers’ backroom staff – including Gary McAllister and Sean O’Driscoll – left Liverpool on Thursday in anticipation of the new manager arriving.
Klopp led Borussia to two Bundesliga titles in seven years before leaving in May, saying he wanted a sabbatical. The make-up of his backroom staff has already been agreed, with Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, his former colleagues at Borussia Dortmund, joining his team.
