LaLiga plans special screening of El Clasico at East Bengal ground

LaLiga is looking at an attendance of around 25,000 at the venue for the El Clasico.

El Clasico is always a highly-anticipated fixture.

The upcoming El Clasico clash between Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, on October 28, will be screened live at the East Bengal Ground.

Steve McManaman, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid star and now a LaLiga Ambassador, will be one of the key personalities joining the fans here to watch the classic rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid. LaLiga is looking at an attendance of around 25,000 for the El Clasico, which has once again been given a early evening start keeping in mind the interest of the Indian audience. The El Classico kicks off at 8.45 pm IST.

Revealing that the viewership of LaLiga has grown manifold in the subcontinent, Jose Antonio Cachaza, the country manager India of LaLiga, said that the Spanish top league is taking a 360-degree approach in order to reach out to a larger audience in India. “We have 3.3 million followers on the Facebook making it the most-followed international league on the social media,” Cachaza said.

The country manager India of LaLiga congratulated the way India is making rapid strides in football especially after the introduction of the ISL. Encouraged by the growing popularity of the sport in India the LaLiga is looking to forge bigger partnerships with Indian football especially in coaches’ training and youth development, he said.
