Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo has been dropped after a video of him in a nightclub surfaced online, while coach Cesare Prandelli has hinted that the midfielder could be sold.

Former Valencia captain Parejo was caught on camera appearing worse for wear, next to a man who used foul language to criticise Prandelli.

Parejo has asked for forgiveness from Valencia, posting on Twitter: "It's not an excuse but this video was recorded during my free time and I had no training the following day.

"I'd also like to add that I don't know the individual who appears in the video. I am genuinely sorry for what has happened."

In response, Prandelli has omitted the former Real Madrid man from his squad to face Leganes in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. Los Che lead 3-1 from the first leg.

The Italian said: "He hasn't been selected and a decision will be made after the game about the video.

"Parejo has personally asked me for forgiveness and the whole business is stupid."

Asked if Parejo was transfer-listed as a result of his actions, Prandelli added: "Every player at Valencia is liable for a move away from the club. My sole focus however is to prepare ahead of the Copa del Rey match."

Valencia is above the relegation zone in LaLiga thanks to its head-to-head record over Sporting Gijon alone and Prandelli is seeking January reinforcements.

West Ham striker Simone Zaza, who is yet to score in 11 appearances on loan from Juventus, has been earmarked as a potential target.

Prandelli added: "He was one of the first names that Suso [Pitarch, sporting director] came up with.

"He's a fine player but I have no idea as to what stage the negotiations are at."
