Hello and welcome to Sportstar's live blog of the UEFA Super Cup 2019.

This is Dominic Richard and I will be taking you through our live coverage.

The action takes place at the Vodafone Park in Istanbul, where two Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea face off in the showdown between last season's Champions League and Europa League winners.

This year's Super Cup will feature the first-ever all-English showdown in the competition's history. Let's get going!

That's it from me as this year's UEFA Super Cup ends with Liverpool being crowned as champion for the fourth time.

Defeat will be tough to take for Chelsea, having played so well throughout the game and coming from behind to take the game to penalties. It returns to Premier League action on Sunday, when it welcomes Leicester to Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile Liverpool travels to St Mary's to face Southampton.

Liverpool clinches the Super Cup after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Chelsea in Istanbul. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, following goals from Giroud and Mane, but there could've been a few more if it wasn't for some excellent saves by Kepa and Adrian. Mane put Liverpool ahead in the first half of extra time, but Adrian brought Abraham down in the box and Jorginho levelled the scoreline from the spot, to send the game to penalties. Adrian was then the hero at the end, saving the final penalty by Abraham to win the game 5-4 on penalties.

LIV 5 - 4 CHE: Adrian saves a Tammy Abraham penalty.

LIV 5 - 4 CHE: Salah scores and Chelsea must score now.

LIV 4 - 4 CHE: Emerson scores.

LIV 4 - 3 CHE: Alexander-Arnold scores. It's now two penalties in a row that Kepa has got a hand to but failed to save.

LIV 3 - 3 CHE: Mount scores. It's a very close shoot-out!

LIV 3 - 2 CHE: Origi scores.

LIV 2 - 2 CHE: Barkley scores.

LIV 2 - 1 CHE: Fabinho scores.

LIV 1 - 1 CHE: Jorginho scores amidst huge boos.

LIV 1 - 0 CHE: Firmino scores.

The penalties will be taken at the end where there are so many Liverpool fans.

We're going to the penalty shoot-out in Istanbul as the game ends 2-2 after extra-time.

119' Not much from both sides as the ball hasn't entered the penalty box at either end in the last two minutes.

117' Emerson gets into a good position down the left wing, but his cross into the penalty area is poor and flies straight out of play on the other side of the pitch.

115' Chelsea looks the more dangerous side right now, with Liverpool struggling to keep the ball, but there are a number of tired players out on the pitch now and it looks like we might be heading to a penalty shoot-out.

113' Acrobatic save from Adrian! The keeper had to get a powerful hand to that shot from Mount to push it away from danger. Tammy Abraham with the crucial pass leading to the chance. Chelsea keeps the ball and continue to press, it falls to Pedro, who tries to curl it into the top right-corner, but it flies just wide.

111' The pace has dropped now and neither team is showing much urgency to get forward and score a potentially winning goal.

109' Both teams are unable to get the move on as the ball is just being traded in the midfield. One moment of brilliance is necessary to stop this game from going into a penalty shoot-out.

107' Yellow card for Trent Alexander-Arnold! Poor late challenge from the full-back on Mount.

The second half of extra-time is underway!

It's been a hectic first half in extra-time, with Mane putting Liverpool ahead early on, but Adrian then fouled Abraham in the box and gave away a penalty, which was confirmed after a consultation with VAR. Jorginho converted from the spot to level the scoreline.

105' Two minutes to be added on at the end of first period of extra-time.

104' What a miss! Abraham with a terrific opportunity to put Chelsea ahead, after Pedro plays a lovely ball into the six-yard box and the striker flicks the ball on after getting to it ahead of his marker. However, he somehow manages to put the ball wide of the far post.

103' Final Liverpool substitution as Mane comes off and he is replaced by Origi.

102' Chelsea substitution now, with Kovacic coming off and he has been replaced by Barkley.

101' AND JORGINGHO SCORES! He sends Adrian the wrong way from the penalty spot and he makes it 2-2! The midfielder just waited until the keeper had made a move and then slotted the ball into the other side of the goal.

98' CHELSEA PENALTY! Adrian brings Abraham down deep inside the penalty area, after the striker just gets a toe to the ball first and the Liverpool keeper clips the legs of the Chelsea man. The referee immediately points to the spot and after a VAR check the decision stands.

95' MANES SCORES AGAIN FOR LIVERPOOL!! Firmino does well down the left wing, he gets to the byline and then pulls the ball back to Mane who was unmarked and waiting in the penalty area. The striker powers the ball into the top right-hand corner of the net. Kepa had no chance of stopping that effort.

92' Liverpool is keeping the ball well in the opening few minutes, Chelsea is sitting deep inside its own half and just soaking up the pressure.

And extra-time is underway!

We're heading to extra-time as it ends 1-1 between Liverpool and Chelsea after normal time. Chelsea led 1-0 ahead of the second half, but Liverpool equalised just two minutes after the restart, with Mane firing the ball into the back of the net from close range. The Reds went closest to scoring again, with Kepa called into action to deny Salah and Van Dijk.

90+2' Free-kick for Liverpool as Gomez is brought down. Henderson takes a poor kick but Liverpool keeps the ball. Mane passes the ball to Salah inside the box, who drills it past the centre for a Chelsea throw-in.

90' Corner for Chelsea. Zouma fires it over the net. Time ticking for both sides. Two minutes to be added on.

88' Mane with a great opportunity to score late on, but he drags his shot wide! The striker is fed in behind the Chelsea defence, he's forced wide, but still manages to round Kepa and then tries to slide the ball into the back of the net, but the angle is too tight and it goes just wide.

86' Henderson is the first Liverpool player to be booked after he trips Emerson. The Liverpool skipper has had a good game so far.

84' Another Chelsea substitution, with Christensen coming off the pitch and he has been replaced by Tomori. Lampard is shouting from the dugout.

83' Another Chelsea off-side. This time it's the sub Mount, who is miles off. Jorginho with the pass from midfield and even Pedro was off.

82' Chelsea with two wonderful moves into the box in a minute. Both times, there was no one in the middle to finish the chance. Pedro first with a shot straight at the goal-keeper, but there was no one to tuck away the rebound. Tammy Abraham with another similar one seconds later.

81' Salah's free-kick hits Tammy Abraham and goes over. The resulting corner is a poor one. Chelsea gets the ball away.

79' YELLOW CARD! Chelsea skipper Azpilicueta is booked for his offence on Mane. Both the captain and Jorginho are arguing too much here. Salah to take the free-kick.

78' Liverpool is just starting to find its rhythm again, keeping the ball well in the middle of the pitch and is starting to find gaps in the Chelsea backline. Chelsea playing the passing game right now.

76' Mane with a sliding tackle on Kepa, who was trying to clear the ball from the penalty box. The end result is, however, a goal-kick for Chelsea.

75' WHAT A SAVE! Kepa somehow manages to keep the ball out to deny Van Dijk! The Chelsea keeper had to make two saves in quick succession, the first to deny Salah and he pushed that shot out wide, but straight into the path of Van Dijk who strikes the rebound, but Kepa gets a hand to it and manages to push it up onto the crossbar. Actually Mane's first shot from the corner was crucial to all the build-up.

74' Double substitution for Chelsea. Tammy Abraham replaces the goal-scorer Giroud and Mason Mount comes in for Pulisic. Lampard wants to go for the kill?

73' Clumsy stuff from both teams. Lots of miss-passes here and there.

71' It looks like Chelsea is about to make its first change of the game as well, with Barkley getting ready on the sidelines. The pace has really dropped now, there is less attacking intent by both teams at the moment.

69' Both teams are just playing long balls into the penalty box. But the centre-backs from both sides are getting to the ball first. Not much action from the forwards in the last few minutes.

67' Milner might have actually been injured as he was seen placing a large ice-pack on his left knee. Nothing to separate the team here.

65' Blocked! Pulisic finds space on the edge of the penalty area as the ball is dragged back to him and he fires it towards goal, but Gomez tracks him well and makes a good block to send it out for a corner.

64' Much-needed substitution for Liverpool. Giorgino Wijnaldum replaces James Milner. There are actually a few other tired legs out on the pitch right now.

63' Chelsea attacking with real intent here. The Liverpool defenders have made a number of clearances in the last five minutes.

61' Chelsea is trying very hard, but no clear-cut chances for it in the second-half. Giroud tries to get in behind the Liverpool defence once again, sitting on the shoulder on Van Dijk, but he is once again flagged offside.

59' Corner for Chelsea. Pulisic with a poor one. Azpilicueta tries to get to a difficult ball but few Liverpool players team-up to overpower him and get the ball away.

57' It's now Chelsea which is having to sit deep and soak up all the pressure, the midfielders have been unable to get Pulisic, Giroud and Pedro on the ball in the second half.

55' Kante is holding Chelsea together. Don't know why he didn't start during the weekend. All of Chelsea's minor second-half chances have also been due to his work in the midfield.

53' It's been a hectic start to the second half, with Liverpool constantly on the attack now and it is not letting the pace drop.

51' Mane is running like a beast. He finally gets a pass into the middle which is picked up by Henderson. The Liverpool skipper's final shot reaches Kepa after a deflection from a defender. Lucky escape for Chelsea.

50' Both teams trade chances now as Firmino and Giroud kick it out of bounds at opposite ends in the same minute.

48' AND MANE LEVELS FOR LIVERPOOL!!!!! It took the team two mins to equalise and the sub Firmino with the assist. Fabinho chips the ball into the box and Firmino just gets to the ball ahead of Kepa, it then falls to Mane, who manages to react quickly and get the final touch to turn the ball into an empty net. CHELSEA 1- 1 LIVERPOOL.

46' Liverpool could have possibly made a change in the midfield to increase the tempo of its game.

Roberto Firmino comes on for Liverpool in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the next 45 minutes.

Liverpool will need to start keeping the ball much better after the break, as the Chelsea midfield trio are running the game at the moment, especially Kante. Plenty of work for the Reds to do. Whilst Lampard will want more of the same from his side.

Chelsea leads at the break after a 36th minute goal by Giroud, his 12th goal for the Blues in Europe. It's been an open game, with both teams having chances to open the scoring, but Kepa denied Salah with a terrific save early on, before Adrian tipped Pedro's shot onto the bar to deny Chelsea. However, as the half went on Chelsea started to dominate and kept Liverpool penned inside its own half. The goal came after Kante drove forward from midfield, played it to Pulisic, who played it through to Giroud, who slid the ball into the bottom corner. Pulisic also had the ball in the back of the net, but it was correctly ruled out for offside.

45+1' Finally the half-time whistle is blown to the relief of the Liverpool camp. The Reds started the half by keeping most of the ball but after the first quarter Chelsea was all over them. Klopp has to come up with quick counter-measures now.

45' Salah latches on to a cross from Chamberlain at the edge of the box and fires a shot at goal, but his effort was blocked by Zouma. 1 minute of added time to be played.

43' Jorginho pounces onto the ball at the edge of the box, but sends his volley high over the bar.

41' Liverpool looks short of ideas at the moment, with Chelsea looking the better team and creating more chances in front of goal. The Reds can't get out of their half right now. It should be very enjoyable for the fans of the Blues.

39' Pulisic scores - OFFSIDE AND THE GOAL IS RULED OUT!!! Liverpool players are being absolutely lethargic here. Another long ball from midfield and the Liverpool players are having no clue here. The linesman saves them.

38' Joe Gomez and James Milner are having a tough time today. Changes need to be made by Klopp heading into the second half. And once again Emerson gets the better of Gomez now.

36' AND CHELSEA SCORES!!! To be honest Kante did most of the hard work in the middle there. He came unscathed through a barrage of Liverpool players and found Pulisic, who finds the unmarked Giroud inside the box in infinite space and the Frenchman does no mistake tucking the ball past Adrian. Liverpool defenders were certainly sleeping there especially Joe Gomez. CHELSEA 1 - 0 LIVERPOOL.

34' Liverpool is stuck inside its own half at the moment, with Chelsea keeping the ball well and it is unable to string any passes together to get out of danger.

32' Milner is having a really tough time dealing with the Chelsea midfielders. Kante finds Kovacic in the penalty box and Adrian comes out with a brilliant challenge. A slight touch on Kovacic would have resulted in a penalty. Van Dijk with the final clearance.

30' Another corner for Liverpool. Zouma didn't take any chances as he cleared a dangerous ball from Henderson. Mane messes up a free header in the end. What are Chelsea players thinking? No one marks Mane as another close chance goes by.

28' Corner for Liverpool. Van Dijk rises impressively and sends it above the post. Chelsea players must be relieved now.

27' Chelsea attacking in numbers here. Pulisic to Pedro to Kante to Pedro to Pulisic. And the US international's cross doesn't find anyone in the middle.

25' Giroud appears off-side here but not given. Even the striker gave up thinking it was offside. But no goal in the end. Would have gone to VAR anyway.

24' Both teams look dangerous on the counter, breaking forward in numbers and with pace, which is testing both defences at the moment.

22' Pedro hits the woodwork! That's the closest chance of the match so far. Pedro does all the hard work wrong-footing Van Dijk in the process and in the end just misses the target from a relatively tougher angle.

21' Robertson saves Liverpool's day! Pedro latched on to a Kovacic pass and looked set to score but the Scottish left-back got the better of the Spanish forward.

19' Kovacic with good control in midfield passes the ball to Jorginho who tries to find Giroud in the box but the pass is too long for the striker to reach.

18' Jorginho has had a few words with the referee. Frappart doesn't look happy about his challenges in the match so far.

16' Oxlade-Chamberlain finds Salah from midfield but the Egyptian forward doesn't trouble the keeper. At the other end, Giroud receives a long ball and his finish is similar to that of Salah. Lots of drama in the last minute.

15' Liverpool has settled nicely into the game now, but neither team is keeping the ball very well, a few too many sloppy passes in midfield, so possession is constantly switching between them both.

13' James Milner with a poor corner. And Arizzabalaga is taking his own sweet time before completing the goal-kick.

12' Henderson with another wonderful cross into the box. But Christensen gets there before Mane. Corner for Liverpool.

11' Chelsea with two back-to-back chances here. Kante with a brilliant run in initially but the Liverpool defenders got the better of him. Pedro then takes a good shot from a decent range with his left foot which misses the post by not much.

9' Salah with the free-kick, Virgil Van Dijk manages a back-heel pass but Fabinho's final shot is straight at Arizzabalaga.

7' Chelsea leaving huge gaps in midfield early on. The Liverpool wingers have been receiving passes from the centre almost every 10 seconds.

6' Salah with another ball in but skipper Henderson puts it wide. Liverpool with most of the ball so far.

5' Henderson with a beautiful ball in to the box for Liverpool. Mane with an overhead kick. A possible hand-ball by Christensen? No VAR checks.

4' Handball by Virgil Van Dijk. And Chelsea was just about to pull the trigger. Pulisic surged in to penalty box in the resultant free-kick and Joel Matip with much-needed clearance.

2' Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has started looking animated right away, while Frank Chelsea coach Lampard looks calm and composed.

1' Liverpool gets us underway. And the Reds complete a number of successful passes within the first minute.

And it kick-off!

Referee Stephanie Frappart is now tossing the coin in front of the captains.
