Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has joined Premier League struggler Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season. Palace will reportedly pay a GBP 2 million loan fee and take on the France international's wages for the duration of the loan. Sakho arrives at Selhurst Park having fallen out of favour under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender made 80 competitive appearances for the Anfield club after joining in 2013. But the 26-year-old – who featured in 22 league games last campaign – is yet to play this season. Sakho joins a Palace team fighting relegation, sitting 18th in the table and two points from safety.

Sam Allardyce's men enjoyed a much-needed 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday and host Sunderland in their next outing. Sakho is the latest Palace recruit in January, following the signings of Jeffrey Schlupp, Patrick van Aanholt and Luka Milivojevic.
