A statement detailing Juve's travelling party explained that Mandzukic had suffered a recurrence of an injury picked up on international duty with Croatia.

New signing Benedikt Howedes will also miss out as he continues a personalised fitness regime, while Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and Claudio Marchisio remain injured.

Juve met Barca in the quarterfinal of last season's competition, winning 3-0 in Turin before holding the Catalan giant to a goalless draw in the return to seal its progression.
