Fran Gonzalez celebrates after giving Mohun Bagan the lead against TRAU.

FULL TIME Mohun Bagan has registered a very comfortable win at the Kalyani Stadium today. TRAU started strong but conceding a goal just five minutes into the game took the wind off their sails. And conceding less than a minute into the second half did not help as they looked to make a comeback. With the win, the Calcutta giant goes fourth in the table while TRAU stays bottom of the table.

90' AND BAGAN GETS A FOURTH! The youngster Subha Gosh makes space inside the box, gets past his marker and sends a diving header beyond the keeper. Well worked and well deserved. And the goal has woken up the crowd!

89' Yendrembam Meitei gets to the end f a hopefuly cross and his his header towards goal is intercepted at the expense of a corner.

85' Five minutes left and neither team is eager to attack. The result has been a given for the last 20 minutes and looking at the way the teams have been passing the ball around, they are waiting for the full time whistle too!

78 ' Fran Gonzalez concedes a freekick at the edge of the box. The cross falls to Marcel who shoots straight at the goalkeeper. Only the keeper between him and the goal, and he shoots at the keeper. Even the consolation goals eludes TRAU.

72 ' At the other end, Julen Colinas shows good vision to find Nongdamba and Tonmoy makes a sliding tackle inside the box to take the ball off Nongdamba's feet.

69 ' Fran Morante with a wonderfully timed tackle from behind on Marcel Silva just inside the box. Had he got that wrong, that'd have been a penalty to TRAU and a red card to him.

66 ' This has been a fiesty game. Less than 30 minutes left on the clock and we've seen 20 fouls committed already: 11 from the home side and 9 from TRAU.

63 ' Bagan is content keeping possession, controling the pace of the game and holding on to its lead.

56 ' TRAU has been on the backfoot since conceding the third goal. Letting in the goal early in the half has taken the confidence from its attack. Passes have gone all over the place and Bagan has done a much better job holding the line.

46 ' LESS THAN A MINUTE INTO THE SECOND HALF, BAGAN SCORES A THIRD! Simple freekick for Bagan and TRAU defence is caught napping. The ball fall to Fran Gonzalez and he has no defenders around him. He has all the time to pick his spot, and he does without error. Horrible defending from the TRAU defence.

46 ' Mohun Bagan gets the second half started.

Half time: Mohun Bagan 2-0 TRAU: Goals from Fran Gonzalez and Suhair VP keep Mohun Bagan in the lead at the break.

45+1' - Fran and Sahil try to build some action from the middle but the latter's final ball is blocked by TRAU's defensive midfielder.

45' - Two minutes have been added on at the Kalyani stadium.

44' - Meitei in the spotlight again as he releases yet another effort! This time he shoots from distance but the shot is collected easily by Mohun Bagan 'keeper Sankar.

41' - Meitei, from the left side, shoots from a tight angle but the delivery is wide of the target.

38'GOAL! SUHAIR DOUBLES BAGAN'S LEAD! Fanatstic pass to the right finds Ashutosh Mehta and his low cross across the face of the goal is tapped in by Suhair.

32 ' Kofi gets the first yellow card of the game.

30 ' Fran Gonzalez with a hopefuly shot from the middle of the pitch. Has the power on it but way off target.

27 ' Romario Jesuraj tries to find Suhair from the right but Uche read the well and intercepted that pass.

24 ' The game has settled down now, with both teams exchanging possession in the midfield.

18 ' And immediately at the other end, Julen Colinas gets possession inside the box with just one defender to beat. He tried to find the corner but his shot goes well wide.

18 ' A wonderful through ball finds Marcel Silva right outside the Bagan box but the finall pass is missing! Could've been the equaliser had he looked up and found a teammate.

17' Fran Gonzalez is there again to meet Joseba Beitia's cross but he heads it way high this time. One shot on target for both teams, so far.

16 ' TRAU does much better in clearing this corner but Bagan comes back in numbers and wins another corner, this time on the other side.

15 ' Uche's footwork is spot on, so far. He turns a Bagan attacker twice before finding his teammate with a pass. TRAU loses possession imemdiately and Uce is there again, with a good tackle from behind. Bagan has a second corner.

13 ' Uche has the ball in his box with two Bagan attackers on him but he turns between them and brings the ball out. Wonderfully done by the defender.

12 ' Two quick crosses from the right from Kofi and the home side just about manages to clear both times. Fran Gonzalez is looking very confident since that goal. He has even brought the ball out of the defence and made some runs into the midfield.

8 ' TRAU players have done well not to lose confidence since conceding early. They have managed to have majority of the possession since but the final ball is lacking.

5' AND MOHUN BAGAN TAKES THE LEAD! Joseba Beitia's corner isn't cleared well and it falls to Fran Gonzalez wh smacks into the far corner. Nothing the keeper could do to stop that.

4 ' Uche with a fantastic tackle and Mohun Bagan gets the first corner for the game.

3' A hopeful long ball catches the Bagan deefence napping. Kofi gets the ball, tries to find his teammate with a pass down the left but it's hit too hard.

2' Uche steps in and stops Francisco from getting to a through ball. And then TRAU manages to keep possession of the ball with some good passes in the midfield.

Match preview - Bagan eyes first win of season

Mohun Bagan   will be desperate to earn its first win of this I-League   season when it takes on debutant TRAU   FC of Manipur at the Kalyani Municipality Stadium on Wednesday.

The Kolkata heavyweight has logged just one point from two games so far, while TRAU went down by a solitary goal to defending champion Chennai City FC   in the I-League opener, which was also its debut match. Mohun Bagan went down 2-4 to Churchill Brothers of Goa in its last encounter.

The pressure was clearly evident in Mohun Bagan’s Spanish coach Kibu Vicuna’s pre-match comments. “After the last match, the team wants to play to get three points. We had 71 per cent ball possession, 27 shots, 10 on target against Churchill but we conceded so much defensively,” he said.

“We need to improve and be more efficient in both 18 yards box. We respect the opponent, a new team with good players and a new coach and we need to play a complete match to succeed.”

For debutant TRAU, it will be its second straight game on the road after the Chennai City FC loss. Its Brazilian Technical Director Douglas Silva was realistic in his comments ahead of the game.

“All the matches of the I-League will be difficult for us because we are new and our teams are young but they are confident enough to face everyone. It is a great opportunity to play in the I-League and not because we are playing against any particular team. We look at all teams the same way,” he said.

The Kalyani pitch has been dishing out good games and much will depend on how Mohun Bagan’s Spanish midfielders and wingers can control the game from the outset and improve on execution.

The visitor will hope that Gurpreet continues to be rock-solid under the goal and its striking duo of Nigerian Princewell Emeka and Ghanian Abednego Tetteh deliver for the team.
