Ronaldo reaches yet another milestone

Cristiano Ronaldo reached the 50-goal mark in Champions League knockout games as the Portuguese forward becomes the first player to reach the milestone during the course of his hattrick against Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo also has the distinction of scoring more goals than Atletico in Europe’s premier club competition, with a total of 103 goals in the tournament.   -  Reuters

Cristiano Ronaldo reached the 50-goal mark in Champions League knockout games as the Portuguese forward becomes the first player to reach the milestone during the course of his hattrick against Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo had earlier become the first player to score 100 times in the competition during the quarterfinal encounter against Bayern Munich, when he scored five times across the two legs.

Ronaldo also has the distinction of scoring more goals than Atletico in Europe’s premier club competition, with a total of 103 goals in the tournament.

Real Madrid took a commanding 3-0 semifinal, first leg lead on Tuesday as Ronaldo extended his lead as the all-time top scorer in Madrid derby matches by taking his tally to 21. Defending champion Real is firmly on course to defend its title in the final in Cardiff on June 3 and possibly bag a double for the season as it looks to win the La Liga too.
