The Indian women’s football team failed to reach the final of the Hero Gold Cup.

The Indian women’s football team has departed for Turkey to participate in the Turkish Women’s Cup that begins on February 27, 2019.

The tourney will serve as build-up to the Senior Women’s SAFF Championship, scheduled for March, 2019, and the AFC Olympic Qualifiers Round Two, scheduled for April, 2019.

Since the beginning of this year, the Indian team has had good match practice, having played seven internationals. At the Turkish Women’s Cup, it will play at least four more internationals; it is grouped alongside Uzbekistan, Romania and Turkmenistan in the group phase.

The team embarks on this assignment after having failed to reach the final of the Hero Gold Cup, a four-nation tourney that concluded earlier this month.

Looking ahead to the Turkish Women’s Cup, Maymol Rocky, the head coach, said, “In Turkey, we will be playing against Romania and Uzbekistan, both of whom are high-quality teams, and ranked higher than us. It is wonderful to get such an opportunity to play against such sides as it will help the girls gain valuable experience. It will enable us to see where we stand against such top sides.”

  • February 27: India vs Uzbekistan.
  • March 1: Turkmenistan vs India.
  • March 3: Romania vs India.
  • March 5: Play-off matches including FINAL.
