Ahead of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held in the country next month, the Indian Under-17 team is being put through its paces at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here.

While the final squad is yet to be announced - the deadline being September 21 - the group of probables have been practising here for the last three weeks under coach Luis Norton de Matos' watchful eyes.

Bengaluru is not one of the World Cup venues, but the city was chosen to avoid the monsoon elsewhere, it has been learnt. However, in spite of the state capital having received more than its fair share of rainfall in August, practice hasn't been severely hampered, an AIFF source said.

The side is expected to be here till the World Cup kicks off on October 6 and is likely to play a friendly against Mali in Bengaluru during the lead-up.
