'It really is an honour' - Spieth responds to Woods comparisons

Though 2016 resulted in two PGA Tour wins for Spieth, the same could not be said of the level of success as he fell to number six in the world rankings, thus quelling the Woods comparisons.

Jordan Spieth enjoyed one of the most memorable years in golf history during his rise in 2015, which started some favourable comparisons to Tiger Woods.

Though 2016 resulted in two PGA Tour wins for Spieth, the same could not be said of the level of success as he fell to number six in the world rankings, thus quelling the Woods comparisons.

But after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am via a convincing four strokes on Sunday - his ninth Tour triumph - the comparisons and former World No. 1 Spieth's trajectory are back on the rise.

Though the 23-year-old does not dwell on the comparisons with the 14-time major champion, he does not shy away from them, either.

"I think less of [the comparisons] than I have in the past, but it's an honour, it really is an honour," Spieth said, via GolfChannel.com.

"But getting to where you're the first guy, even including Tiger, to do something, is maybe the next goal. But that might be pretty hard."

Woods left few stones unturned in his illustrious career, but one thing he never really excelled at was the Ryder Cup, which is something Spieth and his fellow young American team-mates have already conquered.
