Chinese youngster Li Haotong surged to a three-stroke win at the China Open and claimed his maiden European Tour title on Sunday.

And he slowly worked his way to the top of the leaderboard as Aguilar faltered.

After Aguilar found water at the 16th, Li and the Chilean shared the lead heading to the 17th.

Li then birdied the penultimate hole - his eighth of the day - before closing out his stellar round with a par, much to the joy of the locals in attendance.

Consecutive pars saw Aguilar end the tournament in outright second at 19 under following his final-round 69.

Richard Bland (66), Marcel Siem (66) and Bjerregaard (70) finished tied third, four strokes adrift of Li.

A shot further back were Scott Hend (64), Richie Ramsay (66) and Peter Hanson (67).
