World number one Jordan Spieth had a below par day.

Jordan Spieth will have to wait until Saturday to continue his chase of Singapore Open leader Song Young-han after lightning brought a premature end to play. Spieth spent the night one stroke off the lead in joint-third after overcoming the absence of his regular caddie with a four-under opening round, but he only managed to get through six holes before the action was interrupted by bad weather for a second successive day.

The world number one, drawing sizeable crowds as he made his way around the course, was par for the round and was tied for sixth position at the close of play. Spieth has five shots to make up in his remaining 12 holes in order to catch Song, who stormed into a two-stroke lead after carding an eight-under 63 which included seven birdies, an eagle and one birdie.

An Byeong-hun - 2015 European Tour Rookie of the Year - is joint-second with Shintaro Kobayashi on seven under after an eagle, two birdies and a bogie in his opening seven holes. Play is scheduled to resume at 07:30 local time.
