S. S. P. Chawrasia shot a two-under 71.

Two-time Hero Indian Open winner S.S.P. Chawrasia dropped a bogey on the last hole, but still managed to finish creditably at two-under 71 in Nordea Masters here on Thursday.

Playing at the Par-73 Barseb Golf and Country Club where scoring conditions were tough, Chawrasia was three shots behind leader Renato Paratore of Italy, who carded five-under 68. The other Indian in the field, Shiv Kapur, shot even par 73 and was Tied-26th.

Chawrasia’s 71 was very creditable in some tough scoring conditions at Barseb Golf and Country Club, where the winds were not as high as they had been for the pro-am on Wednesday, but were still providing a tough test for the field. Only a dozen of the early starters managed to get round under par. Paratore was the best of them, recovering from two early bogeys to post a 68 and lead the way at five-under.

Chawrasia, starting on the 10th was three-under through first four holes after starting on the tenth. He birdied the 10th, 12th and 13th and his first bogey was on 18th. On the second nine, he birdied sixth and seventh, but bogeyed fourth and ninth. Chawrasia is a four-time winner on European Tour and six times internationally, which includes two on Asian Tour.

Welsh duo Jamie Donaldson and Bradley Dredge were at four-under, a shot clear of Frenchman Benjamin Hebert, England’s Eddie Pepperell, China’s Li Haotong.
