V. Darshan wins MGC-Sportstar Open

The golfer managed a gross score of 72 on Sunday to pip the others to the title.

V. Darshan successfully defended his open category title with the best gross score of 149 in the MGC-Sportstar open golf tournament at the Madras Gymkhana Club on Sunday.

There was a three-way tie, after the first day, between Darshan, Ishwar Achanta and Vijay Mahtaney at 77 gross. On the second day (Sunday), the scores were level till the sixth hole between Darshan and Achanta.

Darshan, then, birdied the next two holes to lead by two shots at the turn. From there, he went on to card the best gross score of 72 for the day and win the title.

C. V. Yudhvir, who was placed fifth after the first day, played catch up and pipped Achanta eventually to finish runner-up.
