Fresh off a fine performance on the Ladies Asian Tour, Vani Kapoor will start favourite when the eighth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour begins at the Eagleton Golf Resort here on Wednesday. Vani finished tied fifth at the Hong Kong Ladies Masters on Sunday, two shots behind the eventual winner Tiffany Chan, and will look to carry that form into this week’s event.

The Delhi golfer has won three of her four events on the Hero Women's Tour this year, including the last leg in Gurgaon in March. The Tour now resumes, after a gap of three months, in Bengaluru, with the next four events to be played here. Vani will have to contend with Neha Tripathi, who sits atop the Order of Merit with two wins. Both of those victories for the Kolkata golfer came at home, in legs three and four, and she will be keen to add another triumph to that list.

The promising Gursimar Badwal and Amandeep Drall, who won the Mumbai and Pune rounds respectively, are also in contention. Kiran Matharu, who is second on the Order of Merit with three runner-up finishes, and Sharmila Nicollet are both away on the Ladies European Tour in the Czech Republic. The veteran Smriti Mehra will also be absent. A total of 13 professionals and one amateur, in Suchitra Ramesh, will tee off on Wednesday. Total prize money of Rs.6 lakh is on offer.
