Tiger Woods holed two early birdies in his bid to claim a 15th major title as he moved within three shots of US PGA Championship leader Brooks Koepka.

Koepka, in the final group with Adam Scott, was at 13-under after a first-hole birdie and is aiming to deliver the third major victory of his career, and the second of this year after retaining his U.S. Open title in June.

None of Woods' previous 14 major wins have been achieved when he trailed after 54 holes, but he picked up shots with successive birdies at the second and third to move to 10-under. Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Rickie Fowler were the others near the top of the leaderboard in pursuit of Koepka.
