The Tournament Management System (TMS) data provided by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has listed only 47 India-Pakistan matches, ignoring over 100 games in the teams' six-decade-plus rivalry.

The first India-Pakistan clash was in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics final. Ever since the teams have met 165 times with India winning yesterday's Asian Champions Trophy match 3-2. The win was India's 54th against its sub-continental rival. But Pakistan leads the head-to-head contest with 82 wins and 30 games were drawn.

But according to the FIH data, in the 47 matches the teams have clashed, India has 19 wins, Pakistan 25 and three drawn games. The exclusion of matches will also discount the many goals scored by players from both teams.
