India made it three wins a row by beating Japan 9-0 with a dominant display in the Asian Champions Trophy Round Robin match on Sunday.

India came from 0-1 down to beat arch-rival Pakistan 3-1 in the second Round Robin match on Saturday.   -  PTI

India looks set for a top-four finish after defeating Japan 9-0 in the third Round Robin match of the Asian Champions Trophy on Sunday, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Muscat, Oman.

  • 56' Brilliant work by Mandeep to make it 9-0! Manpreet rushes out to the right edge of the circle to receive Jarmanpreet's pass and flashes a reverse hit across the goal, Mandeep shows lightning-quick reflexes to divert the ball into the net.
  • 52' Sumeet seemed to have scored another one, but the third umpire is consulted and the midfielder's rising hit is deemed as dangerous play. The score stays 8-0!
  • 51' Japan wins back-to-back penalty corners, but fail to capitalise on it.
  • 49' Mandeep gets the eighth goal! Harmanpreet does not go for the flick and passes it to the left side of the goal, Akashdeep's shot is saved by the goalkeeper but Mandeep latches on to the rebound to make it 8-0 for India.

  • 42' Kothajit takes the shot, but Sumeet gets the glory! India 6-0. Kothajit takes the shot from the edge of the circle which Sumeet manages to get a little touch on his stick on its way into the goal.
  • 38' Dilpreet is shown the yellow card for a push on the opposition player, leaving India with a man short for the next ten minutes.
  • 36' Akashdeep makes it 5-0 for India! The forward enters the circle from the right side and has the Japanese defense scrambling before he dinks the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post.
  • 32' SAVED! Harmanpreet targets the left top corner with his dragflick, but the Japanese goalkeeper is up to the task and palms it away to safety.
