Australia won the men’s Hockey World Cup in 2014.

With almost two years still to go for the men's and women's Hockey World Cups in 2018, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has already begun pre-registration of tickets for the two events. The FIH also unveiled the websites, logos and trophies for the two events.

Pre-registration would keep fans updated on news from the two events and special offers besides providing limited edition World Cup hoodies for those who register between April 5-30. “All the major World Cups, whether football or cricket, begin their engagement with fans almost two years in advance. We are trying to make our sport more professional and more engaging with the public and this is the first step towards the same, there are a lot more activities planned in the coming months,” FIH president Narinder Batra said.

The women's event would be held in London from July 21-August 5 while the men's competition is scheduled to be held in Bhubaneshwar in the month of December 2018. “The launch of the new World Cups website and pre-registration for tickets marks an important milestone in the countdown to the Hockey World Cups. Apart from the Olympic Games, our World Cups are the pinnacle of the sport,” FIH CEO Jason McCracken said.
