Host India will play Argentina in the opening match of the Hockey World League Final to be held in Raipur from November 27 to December 6 this year. According to the schedule of the tournament, which was confirmed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) today, besides the Pool B match between India and Argentina, the opening day will also witness the high-profile clash between defending champion Netherlands and Olympic champion Germany.
This year’s Hockey World League Final schedule will see a slight change from the previous editions: two matches will be held every day to give maximum opportunity to spectators to attend games in the evenings. As a result, only one day – November 28 – four matches will be held.
After locking horns with Argentina, India will play Germany on November 28 followed by their last pool match against the Netherlands on November 30.
The pool matches will be held from November 27 to December 1. The quarterfinals will be held on December 2 and 3; the semi-finals on December 4 and 5. The match for the third place and the final will be held on December 6.
Groupings – Pool A: Australia, Belgium, Great Britain and Canada.
Pool B: India, Argentina, The Netherlands and Germany.
