Hockey World Cup 2018: Pakistan vs Netherlands: Goals across all four quarters saw Netherlands finish second in Pool D with a 5-1 win over Pakistan at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

Fourth Quarter

59' GOAL NETHERLANDS! Mink van der Weerden is gifted with a goal after Aleem Bilal makes a mistake to give away a penalty corner. The dragflicker places his shot into the right top corner.

57' MISS! Aleem Bilal's dragflick from a penalty corner is saved by Pirmin Blaak, but Umar Bhutta misses the ball completely to score from the rebound.

56' Seve van Ass wins a penalty corner for the Oranje. But Mink van der Weerden's powerful dragflick hits the goalpost and Pakistan manages to clear the danger.

54' Jonas de Geus goes for a petulant tackle on Abu Mahmood and is rightly shown the yellow card.

52' Netherlands has not been its best in this match, but has made sure that it has scored goals at regular intervals to keep the scoreline ticking.

Third Quarter

45' Pakistan's best chance of Q3 falls for Ajaz Ahmed, who tries to scoop the ball over the goalkeeper, but Pirmin Blaak makes sure that the ball stays low by attacking the ball quickly.

44' Umar Bhutta's stick goes flying after a strong tackle in the middle to win back possession.

41' Netherlands wins two penalty corners back-to-back but is unable come up with anything dangerous.

40' The Dutch are turning the screw with two more attacks on the Pakistan goal as the four-time champion scrambles to clear the danger.

37' GOAL NETHERLANDS! Jeroen Hertzberger gets on the end of a pass from the deep, and makes his way to the baseline on the left. It is two-on-two situation as the striker selflessly passes it to Bob de Voogd at the far post for an easy finish.

35' Toseeq Arshad makes a superb tackle to prevent another circle entry by the Dutch through Bob de Voogd.

33' Netherlands wins a penalty corner, but Imran Butt makes a good save to keep out the dragflick placed towards the right bottom corner.

31' Valentin Verga puts Mubashar Ali under pressure on the right side, but the defender puts in a strong tackle to avert the danger.

HALF-TIME: Pakistan 1-2 Netherlands

 

Second Quarter

30' Arslan Qadir gets into the circle, but he goes for the glory than passing it to his teammate who is unmarked. It is a tame hit and Pirmin Blaak is happy to let it go.

27' GOAL NETHERLANDS! Right out of nowhere! Seve van Ass and Valentin Verga carry the ball from the midfield by playing one-two between them as Verga makes a run into the middle and smashes home van Ass' pass from the edge of the circle.

25' Pakistan goes for a change of batteries after winning a penalty corner, but Mubashar Ali's dragflick is well read by Pirmin Blaak who makes a smart save.

24' Mirco Pruijser puts Billy Bakker through to the goal on the edge of the circle, but the skipper fails to collect the ball after an attempt to turn around the defender.

22' Van Dam manages a hit at the far post, but the Paksitani players shadow each other to close down the angle and the ball hits the sideboarding.

20' Billy Bakker with a pass into the circle, but Pakistan manages to thwart the attack.

18' Seve van Ass wins a penalty corner for Netherlands. A variation by the Dutch reaches far post, but the umpire his whistle as dangerous play before the ball is hit.

First Quarter

15' Pakistan ends the first quarter on top and has looked better in the opening exchanges.

12' Netherlands' players body language does not look positive as they are losing one-on-one battles in the midfield and Pakistan is trying to exploit the space on the right side of the circle.

9' GOAL PAKISTAN! Pakistan wins three penalty corners with Dutch defence looking very jittery in clearing any danger. Umar Bhutta takes full advantage of it and finishes off the far post to Pakistan on level terms.

 

7' GOAL NETHERLANDS! After a tentative start to the match, the Oranje takes a lead through Thierry Brinkman's goal who just taps into an unguarded net after a superb run down the right side from Sande Baart results in drawing goalkeeper Imran Butt off the line.

5' Netherlands comes up again, but this time Billy Bakker's hit misses the goal by few inches.

4' Mink van der Weerden's dragflick from the first penalty corner of the match is blocked and the Dutch play it into the path of Mirco Pruijser who misses the ball compltely.

3' It has been a quiet start to the match by Netherlands after a 4-1 humbling at the hands of Germany in the second match.

1' We are off for the final group stage matche of the #HWC2018 .

This is how the final Pool C table looks like. Belgium and Canada will face third and second placed teams in Pool D in the cross-overs. Netherlands needs to beat Pakistan with a nine-goal difference for Malaysia to reach the crossovers.
