Socca World Cup: India plays out 2-2 draw with Peru

The Indian team, led by former national striker Raman Vijayan, secured a 2-2 draw with Peru in a Group F clash at the Socca World Cup on Tuesday.

The Indian team, led by former national striker Raman Vijayan, secured a 2-2 draw with Peru in a Group F clash at the Socca World Cup in Crete, Greece, on Tuesday.

Peru's J. Tang opened the scoring in the second minute, while Siddharth Singh found the equaliser in the 15th minute. Anto Sagayaraj made it 2-1 in India's favour and the team coached by IM Vijayan appeared to be coasting to a win, but there was late drama as J. Mora brought the game back to level terms in the final minute of the match.

The draw earned India its first points of the tournament and it currently occupies the fourth position in Group F.  India has been grouped alongside Russia, Moldova, Peru and Spain in the Group.
