"At this level, we need to learn quickly, trying to be more positive. This is a huge opportunity for someone like me," said Kedar Jadhav.

Kedar Jadhav has been Mahendra Singh Dhoni's go-to man for breaking partnerships in the ODI series against New Zealand. Jadhav, bowling right-arm offspin, has picked six wickets in four games at an economy rate of 4.05. Ahead of the decider in Visakhapatnam, he said that he's willing to take more responsibilty.

"At this level, we need to learn quickly, trying to be more positive. This is a huge opportunity for someone like me," he said.

Jadhav believes his action and pace makes him an effective part-time bowler. "It was Mahi Bhai’s and the coach's (Anil Kumble) idea," he said, "Apparently, the captain wants someone to bowl four to five overs to have the right choice."

On his preference to play the sweep shot, Jadhav said that it's one of his strongest strokes and comes naturally to him. "With the field restrictions on, I feel that is a good shot to play when the bowlers attack my pads," he added.

Batting is Jadhav's strong suit. He has over 4,500 first-class runs and has an ODI hundred in the 11 games he's played. Given his performance with the ball this series, he was queried if he's trying to be an all-rounder. "When you play for India, you are expected to contribute in whatever it is possible. You should be willing to take up the responsibilities and live up to the expectations," replied Jadhav.

Asked if the Indian batting line-up is overdependent on Virat Kohli, Jadhav said: "Virat is too good a player. It is always nice and easy for the others who follow him after he scores big. But we have other quality batsmen in the team too to deliver when given the chance."

He didn't comment on the pitch at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy VDCA-ACA Stadium.
