Ben Stokes was unable to capitalise during the morning session's play and was dismissed early for 31, leaving his side in trouble.

Jos Buttler and Jake Ball's 54-run ninth wicket partnership helped England to reach 400. Buttler played a responsible innings of 76 runs.

Ashwin broke the crucial ninth wicket partnership between Ball and Buttler, dismissing Ball for 31. He took six wickets in the innings.

Ravindra Jadeja was the key bowler on Day Two as he took three wickets, including the important one of Jos Buttler.

Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara have put India in a comfortable position with an unbeaten 107-run partnership for the second wicket.
