FC Pune City soared to its best-ever Indian Super League (ISL) performance when the side reached the semifinal in the fourth edition. The Stallions was largely steered to the last four spots by the attacking duo of Marcelinho and Emiliano Alfaro, with the two of them scoring a whopping 17 goals amongst them — which is more than half of the team's total goals throughout the season.

The Pune franchise has decided to further bolster its attack with the acquisition of Canadian striker Iain Hume. The attacking combination of Marcelinho, Alfaro and Hume is truly mouth-watering. "Marcelinho and Alfaro had a fantastic season last time and helped Pune City create history. I'm excited and will join them after my recovery. We three will give our best on the field," he told Sportstar.

The partnership seems very promising, given that Hume is the all-time top-scorer in the ISL with 28 goals in 59 appearances. "It’s something I’m very proud of at the minute, although I’m not sure it will last for long," the striker said of his record.

The 34-year-old has been out of action since February owing to a knee injury and is eager to boot up soon. "The rehab is going really well and I haven’t started my ball work much, but I'm focussing on my recovery more. I haven’t set a timeline of recovery yet, but the club's physio team is working hard with me so that I can bounce back soon," he noted.

Hume had a three-year stint with English side Leicester City between 2005-08, a spell which saw him win the club's Player of the Year award in the 2006-07 season. "I am proud of the moment when I was voted player of the year, I will say I did work hard for that."

Talking about the Foxes' Premier League success, he said, "It was great to see a club that I played for enjoy the success they did. It was an incredible achievement for everyone involved with the club. The team is consistently performing well and the way they play together is what made them grow and rise. I would like to see them win every time they step on the field."
