With three minutes to go, the Warriors enjoyed a slender three-point advantage and it seemed like yet another match would go down the wire in the first week of the PKL. However, Dalal’s three-pointer super-raid sealed the fate of the match as Nilesh Shinde’s team took an unassailable lead.

Earlier in the second half, Dalal gave the major breakthrough to his team by ousting Delhi’s Meraj Sheykh. The Iranian had saved his team thrice from getting all out since the 10th minute of the game. However, the star player was tricked by Dalal in the 29th minute which paved way for the Warriors’ to gain a slender lead.

Warriors captain Nilesh Shinde, who hails from Mumbai, was at his usual best, earning four points while defending. Had Sheykh received some support from his teammates in the latter half, Delhi could have got the maximum points.

Patna Pirates wins

Patna Pirates started the season in style by halting Puneri Paltan’s two-match unbeaten streak with a convincing 30-24 victory. A rejigged Pirates line-up, bolstered by the inclusion of Bajirao Hodage and Mahesh Goud, made it a memorable night, never letting its in-form opponent snatch lead all through the match. Raiders Pardeep Narwal and Surejeet Singh starred for the winners with seven points each.

The result:

> Patna Pirates 30 bt Puneri Paltan 24
