PKL: Panthers record second consecutive win

Panthers' fourth win in nine matches helped the side stay in contention for a semifinal berth. Bulls, which faced the ignominy of being all out twice in the second period, hampered its chances following its eighth loss and sixth on the trot.

Jaipur Pink Panthers banked on comeback man Jasvir Singh's spectacular five-point raid to beat Bengaluru Bulls 30-21 and record its second consecutive victory in the Pro Kabaddi League at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here on Saturday.

The match swung from side to side in the first half. Bulls, trailing 5-6, relied on Vinoth Kumar's successful raid to secure two points and snared rival raider Sonu Narwal for another point to take an 8-6 lead five minutes prior to the half-time.

Pink Panthers, reduced to three men, made a dramatic turn-around by claiming two points through a super tackle. Ran Singh's fruitful raid fetched anther point to draw parity. In the closing seconds, Panthers caught hold of Vinoth to lead 10-9 at the break.

Panthers kept collecting points to extend its lead in the second half to 14-11 before a fine tackle from the home team made Bulls all out and gained three important points to enjoy a 17-12 lead.

Bulls and Panthers lost Pawan Kumar and Sonu Narwal respectively. However, Bulls, trailing 14-20, had a lot of ground to cover in the last 10 minutes.

Returning to the mat after recovering from a painful shoulder injury, experienced Panthers' raider Jasvir showed some gamesmanship by consuming crucial time. Known for his acrobatic moves, Jasvir made a sensational raid to get rid of five Bulls players and widen the gap further from 20-17 to 25-18. Bulls were all out for the second time and virtually lost the battle.
