PKL: Pink Panthers prance to the top with Bulls win

Jaipur Pink Panthers went to the top of the ProKabaddi League points table with a 24-22 win over Bengaluru Bulls at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday. Jaipur overturned an early deficit, and went on to relegate Bulls to a fourth-straight defeat. The home team sits in sixth-place. An Ajay Kumar raid in the first-half, where he took out two antis, got Jaipur going. Soon after, Bengaluru suffered a ‘lona’, allowing Jaipur to take a 13-8 advantage.

The host made a valiant comeback in the second-half, with Rohit Kumar showing two defenders the door to pull his side close. Bengaluru then took a 17-16 lead, when Jaipur attacker Jasvir Singh was speared into submission by his rivals. The visitor, however, clawed its way back. Cheered on by franchise owner and cine mogul Abhishek Bachchan, the side went 23-21 ahead with less than a minute to go. Bulls’ Pawan Kumar was then caught out by the energetic antis, leaving his team with no way back into the contest.
