A team effort enabled Jaipur Pink Panthers score its fifth win and earn five points against Puneri Paltan in the Pro Kabaddi League 2019 at the Eka Arena by TransStadia here on Thursday. Skipper and playmaker Deepak Niwas Hooda came up with another superb showing tagging opponents with ease, but his team-mates Nitin Rawal, Vishal and Nikesh Salunkhe also chipped in as the Panthers posted a 33-25 victory.

The champion team of the inaugural season led 17-11 at half-time and dominated the second half. The match began with Nitin Tomar winning a bonus point stepping deep into the rival territory, but soon Deepak tagged Tomar in his first raid.

As it happened

With Rawal making his raids successful and Vishal tackling well, the Panthers appeared to be on top of its game. The Pune side was all out twice by the early part of the second half. It was because of substitute Pankaj Mohite’s smart ways of winning — touch and bonus points — and Manjeet’s good raids that saw the Paltan put up a semblance of a fight. The Panthers took a ten-point lead well into the second half and Deepak delivered another Super 10 score.

The Jaipur side moved to the third position with 25 points from six matches. Paltan's woes continued; it was its fifth loss in seven matches.

The result: Jaipur Pink Panthers bt Puneri Paltan 33-25
