Taking aimand letting fly in Madurai.-S. JAMES

Competitors from Coimbatore and Madurai were in the forefront at the Tamil Nadu State Shooting Championship in Madurai. Rajeev Viswanathan reports.

The 38th Tamil Nadu State Shooting Championship took place between August 15 and 19 at the Madurai Rifle Club. Close to 350 shooters from all over the State participated in the event, which was inaugurated by Sanjay Mathur, Commisioner of Police and President of the Madurai Rifle Club. He also graced the closing ceremony.

The Madurai Rifle Club left no stone unturned to make this event a resounding success. The Manual target was done away with for the Air Rifle 10m event and an Electric target took its place. A 25m Pistol Range was also constructed.

As many as 18 Meet Records (NMRs) were set with Coimbatore accounting for 9 and Madurai 7. For Coimbatore, three NMRs were set by P. Shrinivetha, two each by S. Praveena and N. G. Vignesh Krishna and one each by M. Srisha and R. Shivanth Krishna. For Madurai, C. Sam George Sajan set three NMRs, while V. Sarvesh Swaroop Shankar and B. Mithlesh set two each.
