Excellent magazine

I am a regular reader of Sportstar since the last two years. The new format is wonderful. It is well equipped to meet the modern interests and attitudes of sportslovers. The magazine does an excellent coverage of all the events in the world of sports. The ongoing World Cup football coverage is really good and exciting.

In a country where football is yet to evolve, Sportstar is acting as a leading catalyst in helping the game develop in the country.

I congratulate Sportstar on its achievements and want it to continue with the same trend.

The 2006 football extravaganza in Germany will mark the end of two marvellous World Cup careers. Both Zidane and Ronaldo have done a tremendous job for their respective countries. While Zidane was instrumental in France's 3-0 victory over Brazil in the 1998 World Cup final, Ronaldo's brilliance led the way for Brazil's success over Germany in the 2002 final. Apart from fulfilling their national duties, both of them have performed brilliantly for the Spanish club Real Madrid, too.

I was very upset to hear the critics talking about Ronaldo. He has been one of Brazil's best strikers.

He struck twice against Japan and in the game against Australia, his excellent pass provided the chance for Adriano to score a goal. At the time of writing, he is joint-topscorer (14 goals) with Gerd Mueller in the World Cup.

Hope he finishes well in the coming games to win the sixth World Cup for his country.

T. D. R. Tilak, VisakhapatnamGreat piece

`Truths taken apart' (Sportstar, June 10), was indeed a gem of a research article. The complexities of football indeed elude the layman, who is more influenced by TV replays than the harsh realities. Delving into such things and presenting them so well needs enormous keenness and insight. See, if saving a penalty is mathematically and physically impossible, we should ask the goalkeepers as to what exactly they feel or do during that particular moment of reckoning. Maybe only prayers do the trick, who knows?
