Lindsay Davenport to be a mother soon

The 30-year-old American is expecting her first child along with her husband of three years Jonathan Leach, said agent Tony Godsick. There was no word on the sex of the baby but it is due in the early summer.

Three-time Grand Slam winner Lindsay Davenport will miss the 2007 Australian Open because she is pregnant, the tennis star's agent announced.

The 30-year-old American is expecting her first child along with her husband of three years Jonathan Leach, said agent Tony Godsick. There was no word on the sex of the baby but it is due in the early summer. There was also no mention if Davenport plans to continue her tennis career afterwards.

Davenport has won 51 career WTA singles events. She also captured the Olympic gold medal at Atlanta in 1996. She won the US Open in 1998, Wimbledon in 1999 and the Australian Open in 2000.

Last season, she missed both the French Open and Wimbledon due to injuries. Ending the season as the world No. 1 four times in her career, Davenport finished this year ranked 25th.
