Nejedly retires

Canada's Jana Nejedly, who spent 12 years on the WTA Tour, announced her retirement from the circuit at age 29 after a season that brought three titles on the ITF Circuit developmental tour. Nejedly, born in Prague but raised in Vancouver, never cracked the fourth round at a Grand Slam event, reaching a career-high ranking of 64th three years ago. But she has led Canada's Fed Cup team, collecting 19 victories in the women's team event, and also competed at the 1996 Olympics. "I'll miss competing, but in the end I just wasn't enjoying all the things that went along with it," Nejedly said.
