Arjun Maini third in GP3 Qualifying

The Indian teenager came up with an impressive performance to qualify behind pole-sitter George Russell and Nirei Fukuzimi.

India's Arjun Maini qualified third for the feature race in the GP3 championship here on Friday.

The Indian teenager, who became the first Indian to win a GP3 race when he won the sprint race in Barcelona, came up with an impressive performance to qualify behind pole-sitter George Russell and Nirei Fukuzimi. Driving for Jenzer Motorsport, the Bengaluru-based racer was six-tenths shy off Russell and 0.4 tenths of Fukuzimi with a best time of 2:27.741.

The first race of the weekend will be held on Saturday evening with the reverse-grid sprint race on Sunday. Maini, who is a developmental driver with Haas F1 team, is currently eighth in the championship with 37 points, 55 behind leader Russell.
