Daniel Ricciardo revealed he was "giggling" in his car after a superb overtake on Williams' Valtteri Bottas at Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

Approaching the closing stages in Monza, Red Bull's Ricciardo managed to close up on Bottas following his fastest lap of the race.

The Australian used DRS to get near Bottas down the straight before out-braking the Finn down the inside of the Rettifilo chicane, moving into fifth place.

On the manoeuvre, Ricciardo told Sky Sports F1: "I was pretty jacked up after the move."

"I was a long way back, but I could see he saw me in his mirrors, so he knew I was there – but Valtteri's pretty clean, he's not known to be a dirty racer or anything. If he knew I was there, I knew he wouldn't turn in on me."

"That was good fun. I was giggling in the car. Out of the last corner I was like 'it's on' this lap. I wasn't convinced I'd pull it off. But I had my DRS open and my head tucked, I was very determined to get it."

Asked if it was his best overtaking move, the 27-year-old said: "It's up there – funnily enough, probably my favourite one was on [Sebastian] Vettel here two years ago. This track's been a favourite of mine for having some fun passes, because the braking zones are so long."
