Frenchman Esteban Ocon underlined his precocious talent again Saturday, when he qualified sixth for Sunday's United States Grand Prix.
His performance made him the top driver outside the “big three” teams.
Yet despite an impressive recent run of form for Force India, Ocon admitted he remains without a team for 2019 and does not know what his future holds.
Ocon is expected to be replaced at Force India by Canadian Lance Stroll, whose father Lawrence this year led a consortium which took control of Force India.
Stroll is currently with struggling Williams.
Ocon, one of the highest-rated young drivers in F1, said: “It was a good feeling that last lap and when I crossed the line I felt there was not a lot left ... to start P6 is a very good feeling.
“Since Singapore, when we got an upgrade, we have had the car working as it should and now my motivation is as high as it could be and I am pushing hard.”
He added: “I am happy with my driving, but I don't know where I will be next year or what can happen. I can only do my job and hope something works out.”
