Jorge Lorenzo was fastest in both practice sessions at the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix on Friday to raise hopes he can sign off in style for Movistar Yamaha this weekend.
The 2015 MotoGP champion will move to Ducati next year, but set the pace in both FP1 and FP2 as he savours one last hurrah in Yamaha colours.
Lorenzo was almost four tenths of a second quicker than team-mate Valentino Rossi in the opening session by clocking one minute 31.045 seconds at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana.
Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez, attempting to end a year in which he regained his title with three races to spare on a high note, was third-quickest in the morning session.
Lorenzo upped the pace later in the day, going round in 1:30.463 with just under a minute remaining to round off a promising day.
